Tulsa World: Tulsa hoteliers say they have enough support to thwart 3 percent tax on hotel rooms ... measure would not be subject to Open Records Act

A group of hoteliers opposed to a city plan to tax customers of Tulsa’s largest hotels say they have enough support to thwart the measure, despite unanimous approval from the City Council earlier this month. The Tourism Improvement District was created in part by VisitTulsa, the tourism arm of the Tulsa Regional Chamber. Funds raised would be sent to a private nonprofit organization that would not be subject to the state’s Open Records Act.
