The IRE Data Reporting Mini-Boot Camp is coming for the first time to Oklahoma on Oct. 12-13 at the University of Central Oklahoma. 

Kickstart your data skills with a two-day workshop that combines hands-on training with lectures and discussions to get you comfortable gathering, cleaning and using data to find stories. It also include session on investigative storytelling. 

This training will introduce you to spreadsheets using proven techniques from IRE’s long-running data boot camps. Trainers will walk you through sorting, filtering, using formulas and aggregating to interview data. 

Reporters, editors, producers, students and educators are welcome. No previous data experience is necessary. You'll come away with a solid base for using data analysis in your own newsroom or classroom.

  • Paul Monies, Oklahoma Watch

The boot camp is being done in conjunction with FOI Oklahoma. Other sponsors include the Ethics and Excellence in Journalism Foundation and UCO’s Mass Communication Department.

Tickets are $75 for professionals and $25 for students. Cost includes lunch on Saturday.

Registration is limited to the 70 participants.
